Meet the Team

Alan Gibson M.A. (Principal)

Alan is a graduate of St. Andrews University, with a degree in Philosophy and Psychology. He joined the Inland Revenue in 1976 and four years later entered the private sector, eventually becoming Branch Tax Manager of a small, but rapidly expanding national firm. "Hated the firm, but learned an awful lot about tax".

Gathering up his own tax and accountancy clients along the way, he went full-time with his own practice in 1986. In 1996, as the accountant to the Veterinary Employment Services agency, he started handling the tax affairs of the locums and this has now become a major work. "I really enjoy meeting the locums and working with them - it is a great part of my job. Good relationships are so important". Having also taught Psychology for 12 years and trained as a Counsellor, he is experienced in dealing with all sorts of problems and is a skilled negotiator on behalf of his clients.

Louise Hawkins

Louise joined the company early 1998. She is a co-director of the firm and office manager with an excellent understanding of the procedures involved in running both unincorporated and incorporated companies. Louise also is a qualified bookkeeper and has her own bookkeeping company.

Paul Taylor

Paul joined the company in 2002 after moving here from Scotland. He specialises in Self Employed accounts and tax returns and also handles the limited company aspects as well.

Brian Muschamp

Brian had a long career in IT with a leading drinks manufacturer, being retained for a number of years on a consultancy basis, providing specialist data processing and administrative services. He joined the firm in October 2003, following over a year of 'retirement', and missing the challenges provided by a business environment. However he works on a part-time basis in order to retain his other interests of golf and travelling! Brian is heavily involved in preparing Limited Company and Self employed accounts and tax returns for our Freelancers and Locums.

Wendy Gibson

Wendy joined the company in 1999 and works part time taking care of various administrative tasks.

Anne Eacott

Anne has worked in accountancy since leaving school and joining the Civil Service. She entered the realm of the self-employed when she and her husband started their own business and has worked for other self-employed clients thereafter. Now that her children are grown up, she has time to pursue her main hobby of travelling.

Paul Young

Paul joined the company in 2008 after many years of working in the datacommunications industry. He deals with both limited company and self-employed accounts and also takes some of the meetings with new clients.

Helen Bartington

With a background in HR, local government and banking, Helen joined the company in July 2009. Initially working on self-employed accounts, she is now working on limited company accounts too. Working part-time allows Helen to fulfil her favourite pastime of gardening and growing vegetables on the allotment.

Melanie Webb (Administration)

Melanie has a background in advertising and PR, having worked previously as an account executive. She joined the company in July 2009 as our administrator.

Ruth Obank (Administration)

Ruth joined the company in February 2010 as an assistant administrator, having spent a number of years in secretarial and administration roles in a variety of different industries
